I realize its the only platform they have right now...but seriously.
Republicans and Democrats need the mainstream media. Regardless of how many right-wing bloggers are out there...there are more people that will believe journalists with 40+ yrs experience than some dude typing in his pajamas.
And anyway...isn't it incredibly insulting to say that the media as a whole isn't doing its job?? It's one thing if there was a particular station, a particular show, a particular group of newscasters....but to continue to blame the entire mainstream media for scandals that they have a right to discuss is ludicrous and frankly stupid. The media is essentially the eyes and ears of the election. The Republicans, as much as they hate to admit it now, NEED the media to get their message out. I would tread lightly if I were them. They don't like it when their jobs are ridiculed, so why would a journalist feel any different?
It's especially stupid of them to complain about the media in this age where everyone knows that the privacy and personal lives of politicians is gone - a convention that Republicans started with their intrusive investigation of Clinton's BJ.
IRONICALLY, the Bush administration managed to avoid personal interrogation almost entirely. In fact, they avoided POLITICAL POLICY interrogation and accountability as well (much to the dismay of White House press reporter Helen Thomas - a true feminist, if I may say so).
So please excuse me when I say that today's Republican is far from "Grand" (although they are old). I say..."who's whining now?" Looks like the GOP.
