Except for the Media Advertisers, Why do People try to remain wrinkle free, and ageless?

when, in fact, secure, adults know they are more than their bodies or skin? My folks were proud to be whatever age they were when I was growing up. They were secure in who they were and rarely did we hear of anyone having a facelift or any youth maintaining medical cure. Youth was not idealized. Infact, if you were young, there was a certain perjaritive associated with youth. Why is everyone so mental about looking like a 20 yr old their whole life?
