Why do NFL players get slapped with a fine for missing Media day at the Super Bowl?

I guess the Pats came up with that rule!

I was just reading about how Plaxico Burress go slapped with a fine for showing up late to media day, that should be a players right if they want to be at Media day or not!

Just my 2 cents!
